In an era when fighting games were all the rage, Killer Instinct stood out from the crowd. It's pre-rendered 3D graphics and flair for the brutal made the game a fan favorite.
Killer Instinct features ten playable characters (or eleven, if you know the secret...) which are highly distinct from one another. From Spinal, the skeleton warrior, to Riptor, the raptor with human intelligence, to Glacius, the alien ice creature, they each possess their own style and pace.
All of these characters bring a series of brutal special moves, combos, and finishing moves to the fight. And fight, you shall! Killer Instinct's dual health bar system replaces the "rounds" used in other games.
The winner keeps his excess health, making fights more desperate. It becomes more lopsided as the bouts progress, each fighter throwing combos and breaking combos at dazzling speeds.
Whether it's single player fights, or a multi-player tournament, Killer Instinct is one of the most distinct and classic fighting games of all time.
