Donkey Kong Country 2 takes the attractive visual foundation of DKC and introduces exciting gameplay changes and enhancements. Donkey Kong has been kidnapped by pirates, and now it's up to Diddy Kong and newcomer Dixie Kong to save him.
Diddy and Dixie have some pretty unique powers, such as Dixie's ability to glide, using her hair. These abilities give many levels multiple paths through them, expanding replay value greatly. In addition, a number of hidden levels are nestled away in hard to get to areas, rewarding diligent exploration.
The number of animals the player can ride has been nearly doubled since the previous game, including a giant spider and a seal.
The difficulty has been ramped up, too, with the levels becoming extremely challenging early on.
Featuring gorgeous graphics and an evocative soundtrack, as well as many gameplay enhancements, DKC2 is an engaging and rewarding adventure. No longer just a generic platformer, the title added to the mechanics and flair that have become a signature of the DKC series.
