Battle Clash is one of the few SNES games designed purely for the Nintendo Super Scope light gun accessory. The game is simple. You fight as Michael Anderson in a future where competitions in which combatants fight it out in heavily armed big metal robots are common place. This competition is simply known as "The Battle Game".
To defeat your enemy you usually have to shoot a particular weak spot on their armor (this is usually made quite obvious by the game but can be harder to get at as you progress through the game). The screen will scroll automatically along as your opponent moves so the only way you can avoid enemy fire is to shoot their missiles down before they hit you.
The sequel, "Metal Combat: Falcon's Revenge", continues with this theme of futuristic robot combat.
