This game is based on the Manga series <em>3x3 Eyes</em>, volumes 8 through 11. Set many years ago in ancient China where some people discover the secret of immortality. They became <em>San Zhi Yan</em> (pronounced <em>Sanjiyan</em>), or "three-eyed ones", and possessed supernatural powers symbolised by their third eye.
One of the San Zhi Yan, a girl by the name of Pai yearned to be normal again. She was aided in her quest by Fujii, a Japanese scientist and explorer who later mysteriously disappears in Tibet. The scientists son, Yakumo, merges his soul with Pai's to become Wu - an immortal being.
Now they travel the world together, seeking to regain their human form. Throughout the game they are based in Hong-Kong, working for the head of the Monster Fighting Agency, Li Lingling.
Lingling discovers a letter left by Fujii, where he reports a strange tribe that can control wild beasts. Yakumo is ordered to travel to Nepal, however first he must find out more about the mysterious tribe through contacts in Hong-Kong.
The game is a mixture of puzzle-solving, adventure, and platform action, with the emphasis on the former. Yakumo moves around the gameworld collecting objects, manipulating them to solve puzzles, and interacting with various characters. He can also jump, climb, run, and fight enemies in more traditional platform-style gameplay.
